Lies don’t travel far, even in Online Dating

10. June 2010

There was an interesting article on CNN a couple of days back, about a study performed by the University of Kansas, to find out who´s lying about what when dating online.

Turns out, that online daters behave quite similar to those who meet face-to-face in the offline world. So people ly about certain things both online and offline, although you´d think, that people who date online, would probably ly more. But since most people are hoping to meet face-to-face eventually, there´s not that much lying, especially if people are looking for a long-term relationship, rather then a fling. Men admitted to lying more overall (mostly about education and their income), but women are most likely to ly about their weight.

You can find the original press release by the University of Kansas here.
