Dating your Co-Stars: These Celebs Did It!

26. January 2011

There’s an old saying: “Never dip your pen in the company ink”; in other words, be cautious when dating someone you work with. But some celebs find it hard to resist the charms of their equally famous co-stars. The following celebs all dated their co-stars…with varying degrees of success.

1. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Length of Relationship: 2005-Present
Co-starred in: Mr. and Mrs. Smith

No article about celeb relationships would be complete without mentioning Brangelina. According to the couple, who met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Brad never cheated on Jennifer Aniston. While Brad and Angie both admit that they developed feelings for each other on set, they never acted on those feelings.

“To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive,” Jolie told the New York News in 2006. “I could not look at myself in the morning if I did that. I wouldn’t be attracted to a man who would cheat on his wife.”

2. Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy

Length of Relationship: 2007-Present
Co-starred in: Evening

At the tender age of 15, Claire Danes had her first kiss. Sadly, it was during filming for My So-Called Life, and not in a “real” setting. Years later, she’s still kissing co-stars, but with a much happier ending.

Danes and British actor Hugh Dancy met on the set of the film Evening back in 2007. Just two years later, they were married in a small ceremony in France.

3. Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez

Length of Relationship: 2010-Present
Co-starred in: Dark Tide

About five months after ending her marriage with model Gabriel Aubry, Halle Berry became involved with Dark Tide co-star Olivier Martinez. Only time will tell if this relationship will last for Berry, who has been married twice and has a young daughter from her relationship with Aubry.

4. Blake Lively and Penn Badgley

Length of Relationship: 2008-2010
Co-starred in: Gossip Girl

In yet another example of on-screen chemistry translating into off-screen romance, rumors about Blake and Penn’s relationship started in 2007, and were confirmed in 2008 when the couple were photographed while on vacation together in Mexico.

While the couple has since split, it just goes to show that for some of the Hollywood elite, dating a co-star is actually pretty common, especially when your characters are already romantically involved.

5. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter

Length of Relationship: 2006-2010
Co-starred in: Dexter

Hall seems to be a serial monogamist, and has been intimately involved with a number of his co-stars. In 2002, he co-starred in a touring production of Chicago with then-wife Amy Spanger.

Then, in late 2006, he started a relationship with Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his sister on the TV show Dexter. He and Carpenter eloped in 2008, but divorced in 2010.

Now, rumors have surfaced that Hall is dating another co-star from Dexter, Julia Stiles. However, Stiles responded to the rumors, stating, “I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer…I too prefer to keep my private life, private – I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter.”

Workplace relationships can sour quickly, and not every celebrity couple that gets romantically involved on-set can sustain a long-term relationship. The next time you get the urge to put the moves on a hottie in your office, think back to the celeb couples in this article.
